Mets’ Spirits Skyrocket as Jose Iglesias Delivers Electrifying Show at Shortstop

The New York Mets seemed destined for another disappointing season until Grimace, the famous McDonald’s mascot, threw out the first pitch on June 12. Since that day, the Mets have turned things around with a 12-2 record, climbing above .500 and just a game behind a Wild Card spot.

This impressive performance has lifted the team’s spirits, which is best exemplified by shortstop Jose Iglesias, also known as Candelita. After games, Iglesias has been performing his hit song “OMG,” which he wrote and recorded himself. The song has become the anthem of the dugout and clubhouse during the Mets’ resurgence. Initially intended for release on July 3, the song’s popularity led to an earlier release.

During Friday’s game, fans not only witnessed another Mets victory but also enjoyed an electrifying performance from Iglesias. His teammates started watching from the first base line but soon joined him on the infield for the performance.

Iglesias, who started the year in the Mets’ minor league team, was called up at the end of May and has been a key part of the team’s turnaround.
