The New England Patriots head into training camp facing uncertainty at nearly every position, particularly on offense.
Here are five of the most compelling position battles to watch as camp begins at Gillette Stadium on July 24:
**Offensive Line:** This is likely the most crucial position battle, with numerous questions to address. Will Chukwuma Okorafor establish himself as the primary left tackle? How much playing time will rookie Caedan Wallace get on the left side? Which first- or second-year players, like Sidy Sow or Layden Robinson, will distinguish themselves on the interior? Could Mike Onwenu start in a role other than right tackle? The Patriots experimented with various lineup combinations in the spring, and this will continue as they look for their best five-man unit.
**Wide Receiver:** While the Patriots might lack a standout playmaker at this position, they have plenty of options. With roster spots likely secured by Demario Douglas, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Javon Baker — and possibly Kendrick Bourne and K.J. Osborn — there will be a few spots available. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, Kayshon Boutte, and Jalen Reagor will compete for these final spots.
