Report: Warriors Not Interested in Trading One Young Player

The Golden State Warriors have experienced significant personnel changes this offseason after missing the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

They lost Klay Thompson, a crucial figure in their dynasty over the past decade, and attempted to recover by acquiring Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton.

For the Warriors to become competitive again, or even a championship contender, they need to execute a major trade. However, Anthony Slater reports via NBACentral that they are not looking to include Brandin Podziemski in any such deal.

“They don’t want to trade [Podziemski]. He’s beloved organizationally,” Slater said. “One of the rare aspects to him, compared to the Warriors’ other recent picks, is Steve Kerr couldn’t keep him off the floor as a rookie.”

Podziemski, a 6-foot-4 guard and the No. 19 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, initially had modest expectations. However, he impressed with his play, becoming a reliable outside threat and an essential part of the rotation.

Over time, Kerr even started the rookie at the two-guard spot instead of Thompson, who hasn’t been the same player since his ACL and Achilles injuries.

The Warriors clearly need young talent to capitalize on what remains of Stephen Curry’s prime. However, executing a significant trade is challenging due to various factors, including a lack of viable assets.
