Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa won’t follow the same path as the Green Bay Packers‘ Jordan Love, who will not practice at training camp until his contract extension is finalized. As Tagovailoa enters his contract negotiations, he will continue to participate in Dolphins camp. On Tuesday, as veteran players reported, Tagovailoa was seen in the building, though he and coach Mike McDaniel were not scheduled to speak with the media. Tagovailoa is seeking a contract extension as he enters the fifth and final year of his rookie deal.
“Tua is in great spirits,” said Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. “I can’t speak on his contract situation because that’s his business, but he feels amazing and is excited to be back with the team.” Fellow wideout Jaylen Waddle, who recently secured his own extension, added, “I talked to him earlier. Everything’s normal.”
Despite the ongoing contract talks, Tagovailoa is expected to fully participate in training camp practices. “Yes, I believe he will practice,” Hill confirmed. “Tua’s very competitive. He understands we have a good team and doesn’t want to miss this opportunity. It’s great having him around; his presence means a lot to everyone.”
New Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer praised Tagovailoa’s professionalism: “He’s a pro. We hope he gets what he deserves. Tua is a huge part of this team, and I’m sure his agents and the team management are handling it well.”
