Patriots have traded star pass rusher to the Falcons.

Matthew Judon’s tenure with the New England Patriots has reportedly come to a close after a challenging offseason. According to multiple reports on Wednesday, the Patriots have traded the star outside linebacker to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

The trade stems from a contract dispute between Judon and the Patriots, as the four-time Pro Bowler, who turns 32 on Thursday, sought a raise from the $6.5 million he was set to earn this season.

Judon openly expressed his dissatisfaction and even had a verbal exchange with head coach Jerod Mayo and front office executives Eliot Wolf and Matt Groh during a practice. As a result, trade rumors began circulating when it became evident that the two parties were far from reaching an agreement.

Judon originally joined the Patriots in 2021 on a four-year, $54.5 million deal. He recorded 12.5 sacks in 17 games in 2021 and a career-best 15.5 sacks in 17 games in 2022. He managed four sacks in four games in 2023 before a season-ending biceps injury.
