Pete Carroll’s Las Vegas Raiders coaching staff is coming together fast, with major moves being made ahead of the new season. On Sunday, the team announced the hiring of Chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator, and now they’ve filled another critical role. The Raiders have reportedly hired Brennan Carroll, Pete Carroll’s son, as their new offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Brennan Carroll brings with him a wealth of coaching experience. He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Huskies but is now making the jump back to the NFL to reunite with his father, Pete, in Las Vegas. While Brennan spent time as an assistant offensive line coach under Pete in Seattle, he has spent the past four seasons as the head offensive line coach for Washington and Arizona. His familiarity with offensive line strategy and coaching should be a huge asset for the Raiders.

There had been rumors about Tom Cable possibly returning to Las Vegas, but those have now been dispelled. Instead, the Raiders are betting on Carroll to bring in a solid running game and develop a strong offensive line. Given his prior experience under Cable, it’s likely that Carroll will implement a zone-blocking scheme, which has been successful in the past. With the Raiders currently lacking a quarterback, strengthening the offensive line and running game will be vital for their offensive success. Carroll’s time away from his father in recent years may have given him a fresh perspective, potentially making him the perfect fit for the job.
