After suffering a loss to the Texas Longhorns, the LSU Lady Tigers returned to action determined to regain their momentum. However, before the game even began, they faced a challenge as star player Aneesah Morrow was ruled out with an injury. This forced LSU to rely on other key players to step up.
Despite Morrow’s absence, the Tigers’ frontcourt rose to the occasion. Jersey Wolfenbarger led the charge, scoring 16 points, shooting 4-5 from the field, and 8-12 from the free-throw line. She also contributed 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Sa’Myah Smith added 11 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing her versatility and effort.
The real driving force behind the Tigers’ victory was Flau’Jae Johnson. Despite dealing with her own injury, Johnson stepped up as the leader, scoring 21 points on 8-20 shooting and recording 3 steals. Mikaylah Williams had a tough day, shooting 6-16 and missing all 3 of her three-point attempts, finishing with 12 points. Kailyn Gilbert provided a much-needed spark off the bench, scoring 15 points with 6-12 shooting and 2-5 from beyond the arc.

One of LSU’s persistent struggles this season has been inconsistent guard play. The Tigers’ guards struggled both offensively and defensively, particularly against Trinity Turner, who dropped a game-high 28 points for the opposing team.
After the game, Coach Kim Mulkey shared that Morrow’s absence was a precautionary measure following an injury in the Texas game, where her foot was stepped on. With the win, LSU improved to 26-2 on the season and 11-2 in SEC play, ahead of their upcoming matchup against Kentucky.
