The New York Mets have reached out about Jameson Taillon and Erick Fedde.
Following Kodai Senga’s season-ending calf injury, the Mets have shown interest in Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon, according to the New York Post. Taillon, who has experience with the Yankees, where Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was the bench coach, would address a long-term rotation need. He is owed $18 million for both 2025 and 2026.
Additionally, Anthony DiComo reports that the Mets have been in touch with the White Sox about veteran right-hander Erick Fedde. Fedde, who has improved significantly this season after refining his skills in Korea last year, is owed $7.5 million for the remainder of this season and another $7.5 million for 2025. His reasonable salary could make him an attractive option for the Mets, though they might face competition for his services.
Sean Manaea is likely to opt out of his contract, joining Jose Quintana and Luis Severino as Mets starters who will become free agents. The Mets will have only Senga, Tylor Megill, David Peterson, and the currently injured Christian Scott under contract or team control for 2025.
