EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Oilers have inked forward Mattias Janmark to a three-year contract extension worth an average annual value (AAV) of $1.45 million.
The 31-year-old played 71 regular-season games last season, including his 500th career game on December 8 against Minnesota. Janmark contributed four goals and eight assists while averaging 11:53 time on ice per game. He ranked second among all Oilers forwards with 127:59 spent on the penalty kill.
In his second Stanley Cup Final appearance, Janmark appeared in all 25 playoff games for Edmonton, scoring four goals and adding four assists. He was a key part of the penalty-killing unit that successfully defended against 66 of 70 shorthanded situations, scoring two shorthanded goals including the game-winner in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final against Dallas and the opening goal in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final versus Florida.
Throughout his nine NHL seasons, the Swedish veteran has played 557 games, accumulating 80 goals and 115 assists for 195 points, while averaging 14:51 of ice time per game.
