Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are projected for 9.5 wins in the 2024 NFL season, but they are also the most frequently bet team to fall short of this total.

On “The Carton Show,” Craig Carton highlighted concerns about the Cowboys’ 2024 outlook due to a lackluster offseason and several key players entering the final year of their contracts. Carton noted that despite owner Jerry Jones’s assurances of full commitment, the situation suggests otherwise.

Head coach Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his contract, following speculation about his job security after the team’s wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers. Similarly, Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and linebacker Micah Parsons are also in the last year of their deals. Reports indicate that Prescott, who had a standout season last year, might not receive an extension before the season starts.

The Cowboys also lost several starters to free agency, including running back Tony Pollard, offensive tackle Tyron Smith, center Tyler Biadasz, wide receiver Michael Gallup, defensive end Dorance Armstrong, and defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins. Defensive backs Jayron Kearse and Stephon Gilmore remain unsigned.

New additions to the team include linebacker Eric Kendricks, known for his consistent tackling, and running back Ezekiel Elliott, who is back for a second stint with the Cowboys. In the draft, Dallas selected offensive tackle Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma and defensive end Marshawn Kneeland from Western Michigan.
