Haason Reddick sparks controversy by making a bold decision.

Haason Reddick skipped minicamp last month as he seeks a new contract from the New York Jets, and it appears the veteran pass-rusher will extend his holdout for the foreseeable future.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reddick does not plan to report to the Jets for the start of training camp on Tuesday.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh mentioned last month that he believed Reddick would attend minicamp. However, a later report suggested Reddick misled the Jets before they traded for him from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reddick, who is set to earn $14 million in base salary in the final year of his contract this season, wanted a new deal from the Eagles, which led to his trade. The Jets took a gamble by giving up a conditional third-round pick for a player with an expiring contract, but Reddick allegedly assured the team he was fine without an extension before the season.

Reddick took an unexpected vacation while staying away from minicamp, so it will be interesting to see what he decides during training camp.

The 29-year-old Reddick, the No. 13 overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017, was signed by the Eagles before the 2022 season and found success with Philadelphia. He recorded 27 sacks in 34 games over the last two seasons and made the Pro Bowl both years.
