The Dallas Cowboys will be without a key pass rusher for the 2024 season due to a major defensive depth issue that surfaced before preseason.
On Sunday, the Cowboys added some depth by claiming Kemon Hall off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers. Although Hall isn’t a replacement for Stephon Gilmore, he will help fill the gap left by Gareon Conley’s surprising retirement after just a few months with Dallas.
Hall, an undrafted free agent who previously spent time on the Cowboys‘ practice squad in 2020, has mostly been on practice squads since entering the league in 2019.
The Cowboys are also now in need of a defensive end. Sam Williams sustained a knee injury during Sunday’s practice and had to be carted off the field. After undergoing tests, it was confirmed by Todd Archer of ESPN that Williams tore his ACL and will miss the entire 2024 season. Williams, who was set to provide relief for DeMarcus Lawrence, recorded 8.5 sacks over his first two seasons with the Cowboys as a second-round pick in 2022.
