Breaking News: Juan Soto Seals Personal Deal with Red Sox, Boosting High-Profile Trade Hopes

The Juan Soto sweepstakes could wrap up as early as this weekend, with the Red Sox still firmly in the mix.

Boston is one of five teams, alongside the New York clubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays, competing for the All-Star outfielder’s services. Each of these teams has reportedly made an offer worth at least $600 million and has met with Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, at least once.

While the Red Sox are considered a strong contender, reports on their standing relative to other suitors have been mixed.

According to MassLive’s Sean McAdam, negotiations with Soto are nearing a resolution, with the belief that the 26-year-old could make his decision before the MLB Winter Meetings in Dallas on Monday. Soto’s deal could potentially exceed $700 million, possibly even surpassing the $700 million contract Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers last offseason. McAdam also noted that some offers for Soto have included deferred money, though it’s unclear whether Boston’s offer follows this structure.

While Soto and his camp are still weighing their options, McAdam reported that no further meetings have been scheduled at this time. However, there is speculation that Soto and his representatives may meet with teams once they arrive in Dallas on Sunday.
