Bulldogs Bid Farewell to Ten Players in Squad Shake-Up
The Canterbury Bulldogs have officially confirmed the departures of eight players as they prepare for their second pre-season training block following the Christmas break. The club is making significant roster adjustments ahead of the 2025 season, and the decision to part ways with several players reflects their desire to reshape and strengthen their squad.
Previously, it was announced that Chris Patolo (joining Manly Sea Eagles), Hayze Perham (to Brisbane Broncos), Jeral Skelton (heading to Wests Tigers), and Poasa Faamausili (who has retired) would be leaving the Bulldogs. Additionally, Josh Addo-Carr, Joash Papalii, Jordan Samrani, and Kitione Kautoga (who is moving to the Parramatta Eels) were also confirmed departures. More recently, centre Eli Clark and forward Liam Knight were added to the list of players no longer with the club.
The departures come at a time when the Bulldogs are strengthening their roster with the arrivals of key players such as Enari Tuala, Marcelo Montoya, Sitili Tupouniua, and Tom Amone for the 2025 season. These new signings aim to bolster the team’s depth and enhance their competitiveness.
Eli Clark, who was informed that he would not be retained due to the club’s surplus of outside backs, is expected to finalize his move to a new club in the coming weeks. Interest from multiple NRL teams has already been reported, and his next destination is anticipated to be confirmed soon.
Meanwhile, Liam Knight’s time with the Bulldogs has come to an end after spending two seasons at the club. Despite his efforts, Knight struggled to break into the first-grade team, often being passed over in favor of younger forwards like Kurtis Morrin, Bailey Hayward, Lipoi Hopoi, and Harry Hayes. His primary involvement was in the NSW Cup competition. Knight has been previously linked with a move to the Super League’s Leeds Rhinos, and there were talks about a potential deal with South Sydney Rabbitohs, but those discussions have since stalled, leaving him without a team for the upcoming season.
The Bulldogs’ pre-season changes signal a renewed focus on building a strong, competitive squad for 2025.
