Ohio State is preparing to host a key transfer portal prospect this weekend.

Ohio State-  The wait is finally over—it’s time for the College Football Playoff semifinals! After more than a week of anticipation, the Buckeyes are ready to take the field, building off the momentum from their dominant performances in the past two games. They are poised to continue their strong play tonight, with the chance to secure a spot in the national championship on the line.

While the focus of the coaching staff remains on the upcoming game, it’s been a busy week off the field as well, particularly with recruiting efforts. In fact, after tonight’s game, Ohio State is set to welcome one of the top remaining targets in the transfer portal to campus.

Ohio State to Host Georgia Transfer This Weekend

Earlier this week, former Georgia defensive end Damon Wilson entered the transfer portal, immediately linking him to Ohio State. After announcing his decision to leave Georgia, multiple predictions quickly favored the Buckeyes to land Wilson, and it’s easy to see why. Ohio State finished just behind Georgia in his recruitment out of high school, and now, with the transfer portal offering him a fresh start, the Buckeyes have another chance to add the highly coveted athlete to their roster.

Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end, could provide immediate depth to an Ohio State defensive line that is losing several key seniors this season. With rumors circulating that defensive coordinator Jim Knowles plans to use a three-down front next year, Wilson would be an ideal fit for the system, strengthening the bond between the player and the program.

This visit comes at an interesting time, as the recruiting dead period is set to begin on Monday. Wilson is currently ranked as the No. 5 player nationally and the second-best edge rusher in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, making this weekend’s visit crucial for Ohio State’s hopes of landing him.

Ohio State Commits Shine at the All-American Bowl

Ohio State’s commitments continue to impress at the All-American Bowl, showcasing some of the nation’s top talent. This year is no different, as several future Buckeyes are making their mark. Wide receiver Quincy Porter, in particular, has been turning heads with his standout performance.

Porter, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver, has shown why Ohio State was so high on him during his recruitment. Despite flying under the radar for much of his commitment, Porter’s late recruitment battle saw Ohio State fend off other suitors, a testament to Brian Hartline’s excellent evaluations. Ranked as the No. 53 player nationally and the ninth-best receiver in the 2025 class, Porter’s skills on the field are catching the attention of everyone at the All-American Bowl. With an already stacked receiver room, including top talents like Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss returning next season, Porter is set to further elevate Ohio State’s already lethal offense.

The game tomorrow at noon will be a great opportunity to see not only Porter but other Ohio State signees in action as they prepare to join the Buckeyes.

Quick Hits

In other news, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is set to enter the transfer portal, and reports suggest that Ohio State could be a potential landing spot for him. While Beck has had a solid career, his recent performances haven’t been as stellar, and it would be surprising to see the Buckeyes pursue him seriously, especially given the current state of their quarterback room. It seems unlikely that Ohio State will be a significant player in Beck’s recruitment moving forward.
